Hillside is a "Small town with big opportunities".

The Village of Hillside is conveniently located at the intersection of the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290), the Tri-State Tollway (I-294), and the East-West Tollway (I-88). Hillside, Illinois is located just 17 miles from downtown Chicago.

The Village of Hillside incorporated Dec 6, 1905, adopting its name from the Illinois Central Railroad stop, which was called Hillside because the westbound trains had to go uphill at this point. Hillside had its first bank located on Butterfield Road in 1928. The Hillside State Bank opened on April 14, 1928. As of the 2000 census, Hillside had a population of 8,155.

One notable landmark in Hillside is the Mount Carmel Cemetery. On the grounds of the cemetery are the graves of a number of organized crime figures, such as Al Capone.

Hillside offers many recreational opportunities including golf, hiking and biking trails. It is home to two aquatic parks - Adventure Bay Water Park and Turtle Island Water Park.
